Barton Dofflemyer (Owner)
Barton was basically born into the kennel business. His parents have owned and operated Wakefield Kennel since 1974, and he has spent most of his life caring for pets at their establishments. Barton is a Graduate of Virginia Tech and is now married and the father of two wonderful children, who may someday follow in the “family business.” Barton enjoys golf and gardening, and loves working around the house, that is when his two dogs Bogey and Cider aren’t tearing up all his plants.
Brian Emert (Manager)
A native of Albemarle, Brian moved back home after graduating from James Madison University with a degree in Sport Management and a Minor in Business Administration, and worked as a golf professional at a local club. But the golf industry wasn’t for him and he found his way to his current position with the Dogg House in 2003. Though relatively new to the pet care industry Brian has had a lifelong love for animals and grew up around all types of animals and household pets. Brian is married and loves family time with his wife Nikki and their children Shaylee and Sam, and their two dogs Frodo and Willow.
Ray Herrlein (Asst. Manager)
Ray’s mother is the manager of our sister facility, Wakefield Kennel, and Ray has been with the Dogg House since he was in High School. He, like Barton was almost born into the business and has worked in all facets of the daily activities from exercise attendant to kennel attendant and now on to management. All you have to do is observe Ray in his interaction with the pets, and you know that he truly loves the animals. Hard work and devotion have led to success in his job, and hopefully will do the same with his local rock band. When not spending his time at work or with his band mates, Ray loves working on cars and playing catch with his Dog Sprokett.
Brooke Young (Staff Groomer)
Brooke has been with the Dogg House for about three years. She started as one of groomers, coming to us from one of the other area establishments, but has now shifted her focus to activities in the kennel as well as grooming. Brooke is another area native and is a huge fan of Elliot Yamin of American Idol fame (just ask her about him the next time you see her). Brooke has two wonderful children and loves spending time with her family and friends.
